Babcock International Group has completed the topside for the offshore substation for the Rampion offshore windfarm.
The topside recently departed from Babcock’s Rosyth site and was the first offshore windfarm contract secured by the base, which is now working on two further windfarm contracts.
The topside has since made the 500-nautical mile journey from the Rosyth facility to the Rampion site off the coast of Sussex to be installed on the structure’s jacket foundation, which was completed last September and managed at the subcontractor’s site by Babcock.
Ian Donnelly, managing director of the Babcock Rosyth site, said: “We are very proud of our work on the Rampion project, our first windfarm contract. A combination of the skills of our people, balanced with a wealth of engineering experience gathered over many years, was the key to production of this component. With two other windfarm contracts currently underway and future potential work through the latest CFD round it is an exciting time for Rosyth and our renewables team.”
