Blade repair team starts work at Dutch offshore windfarm
Work undertaken at the Egmond aan Zee will include tip replacement, laminate repairs and upgrades to leading-edge protection

Alpha Offshore Service has been awarded a contract by NoordzeeWind, a joint venture between utility company Nuon and Shell, for blade repair on the Egmond aan Zee offshore windfarm.

The first large windfarm built in the Dutch sector of the North Sea, Egmond aan Zee consists of 36 3 MW turbines.

Alpha Offshore will provide personnel to repair the blades on the Vestas V90 turbines. In total, they will repair around 80 blades.

The scope of work will depend on the requirements of each blade but could include tip replacement, laminate repairs, lightning damage and leading-edge protection system upgrades.

All materials necessary for the campaign will be supplied by Alpha Offshore.
