Jan De Nul Group has been awarded a contract for the design, procurement and installation of the foundations for Phase 2 of the Formosa 1 offshore windfarm.

The windfarm is owned by Formosa Wind Power, a partnership of Macquarie Capital Group Limited (50%), Ørsted (35%) and Swancor Renewable Energy (15%).

The scope of work also includes scour protection and cable installation. Construction will be completed in 2019.

The second phase of Formosa 1 will add another 20 turbines, with a total capacity of 120 MW.

Formosa 1, located off the coast of Chunan Town, Miaoli County, in northwest Taiwan, will be the first commercial-scale offshore windfarm in Taiwan.

The contract was signed weeks after Jan de Nul was also awarded a contract for the Changhua offshore windfarm by Taiwan Power Company.
