First foundation for Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm installed
Adhémar de Saint-Venant will start ballasting and scour protection work shortly

The first gravity-based foundation for the Kriegers Flak offshore windfarm in Denmark has been installed.

The 8,000-tonne foundation was floated off a semi-submersible barge and towed to the installation location where the heavy lift vessel Rambiz, in combination with a ballast module, set the structure down onto the seabed. The second foundation, weighing 10,000 tonnes, will be installed shortly, depending on weather conditions.

Once the foundations have been installed Jan De Nul’s multipurpose vessel Adhémar de Saint-Venant will start ballasting and scour protection work.

Both foundations were constructed by Jan De Nul Group on a barge in the Port of Ostend in Belgium. The barge was towed to Denmark on 8 January 2018.

The foundations were designed and built by Jan De Nul Group and Smulders.
